ACWA Robotics is the newest addition to FMG Cirular Invest, a joint investment initiative by Mellby Gård and Feralco. The aim of the initiative is to invest in innovative companies that provide solutions linked to the global drinking water shortage. ACWA is the fourth company to be added to the portfolio.
Worldwide, due to worn out and degraded pipes, 20% to 40% of drinking water is generally lost each year in the transport and distribution networks. Here, a lack of information on the location and condition of water networks is a major obstacle.
- For our initiatives first investment in France, we have chosen to focus on the critical issue of drinking water losses in networks. ACWA has a brilliant team and a technology that we feel is most likely to improve the situation, says Ludovic Huitorel, CEO at Feralco.
ACWA offers a water supply network condition assessment robot that collects information inside the water pipes without interrupting services or flow. Data collected such as precise geolocation, residual thickness measurement, deformation identification and visual analysis, will provide strategic information to assess the conditions of the water infrastructure.
- ACWA is an interesting company in an early stage with an innovative technology. Their robot, with its condition assessment ability, will help communities save time, money and ultimately water, says Filip Schager, Director of Business Development at Mellby Gård.
On January 25th, FMG Circular Invest announced an investment of 1.4M€ in ACWA Robotics. Together with four other investors, 4.8M€ was raised, enabling ACWA Robotics to follow up the technical and commercial development of its range of georeferencing and water supply network condition assessment robot.
